Whiteleys Retreat Cheque Presentation

Jim Nelson, organiser-in-chief of this year’s Charity Golf Day, went along to Whiteleys Retreat to present general manager, Bernard Smith, with a cheque for £2,700 which was the Whiteleys’ share of the £10,500 raised by the Golf Day. (Ayrshire Cancer Support and the Ayr Rotary Club benevolent fund were the other beneficiaries).

Bernard thanked the club for the donation and Jim acknowledged gratefully all the companies and individuals who had contributed so generously.

Whiteleys is a much-needed respite facility for children and young people with cancer and life altering illness in Ayrshire. Members will recall that Bernard recently gave a moving talk to the club of personal tales of courage and grief and he emphasised the much-needed, positive contribution that Whiteleys were making towards supporting these unfortunate families throughout the most difficult time of their lives.
