2019 Christmas Party – 10 December

It was a full house at the Savoy Park last week for another great night of fun. friendship, awards and entertainment at our Christmas partners’ evening. As is traditional, a glass of Prosecco, courtesy of Gus Iannotti, greeted everyone to get the evening underway and the Savoy Park Hotel, with attentive staff on hand, provided a most enjoyable three-course meal followed by coffee, mince pies & mints.

After the meal, Katie and Euan Nicol were presented with a cheque for £500 to go to the Ayrshire Young Parkinson’s Group which they had set up. The money was raised by the recent charity quiz night and Katie said the group was deeply touched by the generosity of all the Rotary members and friends who had contributed.

The subsequent (free) raffle was overseen by Ian Alexander and the first name out of the hat was an unembarrassed…….Ian Alexander! But it was Paul Williams who came out tops winning the eye-catching Christmas hamper. Thanks to all those who donated prizes.

The entertainment which followed was provided by the self-styled King of Impersonation, Gerry Anderson, who sang, mimicked and chatted his way through a repertoire of classic swing and rock favourites featuring the likes of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr and even an ultra-camp Shirley Bassey.

Harry Jackson delivered some witty observations in his vote of thanks to all who attended on the night and made it such a happy occasion. This year’s event was organised differently to previous years inasmuch as the price of the ticket included the welcome drink, the meal, the initial wines for the tables, the raffle, and the entertainment. Great value at £35 per head. Congratulations to Ian Alexander and his organising team for a thoroughly enjoyable night. Well done everyone.
