VE 80 Celebrations
Ayr Rotary were privileged to sponsor a figure on Wellington Square, and consequently were invited to the “Shared Moment of Celebration” at the Town Hall on Thursday 8 May 2025.
Mary- Helen Shakespear, Ronnie Wilson and Howard Stevenson represented the club and enjoyed “A Musical Stroll Through Key Events of WW2”. Ken Nairn narrated the events and musical accompaniment was from the Musichoir and Thistlebrass. It was beautiful and very fitting tribute.
Afterwards the various organisations including the pipes and drums marched from the Town Hall to Wellington Square where they finished the evening with prayers and musical accompaniments . After that we moved to the Low Green for the lighting of the Beacon, one of many dotted alomg the Ayrshire coast.
