The Carrick Resilience Team
On Tuesday evening Andrew Girvan’s gave a presentation on ‘The Carrick Resilience Team’ on Tuesday at the Stravaig. Andrew, is the founder of the organisation. Ken Ireland delivered the Moment of Reflection and VOT whilst hosting Andrew.
Andrew was born and brought up in Girvan, and is a South Ayrshire Paramedic by profession. He is the founding force and trustee behind the Carrick Resilience Team, established in 2019 primarily to improve response capability across the rural Carrick region, with a range of emergency situations.
His frontline experience led him to recognise a dangerous gap in emergency response for remote and hard‑to‑reach areas across Carrick. His leadership, practical experience, and community‑driven vision have shaped the team into a vital local asset providing logistical, welfare, and rescue support during emergencies.
The ‘Teams’ operational area stretches from south of Ayr to north of Cairnryan, with deployments further afield when they are the nearest suitable resource.
The Resilience Team’s devotion exemplifies grassroots community action, with service above self, combining professional expertise with local commitment to create a lasting public benefit.
