Ian Alexander
Ian was born in Stranraer and his parents moved to Kirkoswald to work the dairy at Kirklands Farm. He attended Kirkoswald Primary School and Carrick Academy, Maybole. On leaving school he secured a farm management course at Auchincruive Agriculural College, Ayr
In 1976 Ian joined Strathclyde Police where he served in Divisions throughout Strathclyde, mainly in duties relating to criminal investigation.
Ian retired after 30 years police service. He worked part-time for a local solicitor for five and a half years and now for the last four years classes himself as a Carer’s Assistant working from home (elderly parents!). He is on social media and cites the 4 Cs as his hobbies and passions – curling, cooking, cars and children – hardly a day passes without a post on one of them.
Ian joined the Rotary based on his police and life experiences to give those with less more through the good initiatives promoted both locally and globally.
