New Member Julie Bain

Ayr Rotary Club are delighted to welcome its newest member, Julie Bain. Originally from Glasgow, where she studied applied physics with electronics and worked in engineering, Julie and husband Derek, along with their two sons moved from Dufftown to Ayr, where she was involved with youth and family support work through St Andrews church for many years.
However, Derek’s employer asked him to evaluate the potential purchase of a New York State bourbon distillery which resulted in a relocation for both of them to New Paltz in the States for four years, where Julie joined the local thriving and active Rotary Club. The community minded spirit of a small town meant Rotary was at the heart of many fundraising events, in which Julie was heavily involved especially helping underprivileged children.
“On returning home, I wanted to join an organisation which mirrored the willingness attitude that I experienced in America, therefore I am really looking forward to being a part of Ayr Rotary’s Youth Service committee and engaging with the community”
