Kummel Cup Golf Competition – 27 Sept 2023

 

Ayr Rotary play an annual golf competitoon for the Kummel Cup. The number of members playing golf has decreased over the years, and several were unavailable this year, owing to holidays.

So in the end only Paul Williams, Charlie Steele and Euan Lawrence played over Prestwick Golf Club on a decent September day. The course was in excellent condition and the Stableford format provided a good match, with Euan lifting the trophy.

The Kummel Cup was donated by John Laughland in 2007, for annual golf competition. It is tradiitional to fill the cup with a bottle of Kummel, and John duly obliged. Kummel is a caraway-flavoured sweet liqueur, thought to have medicinal properties. It is well knowm as the drink of choice at Prestwick Golf Club.
