Glasgow Central Train Station visit

Trains, tunnels, tracks and tributes to troops were all part of the rich tapestry of our tour through the bowels of Glasgow Central Station hosted by our erudite guide, Flavia. She had the ability to transform bland, white painted arches into a historical journey, a musky smelling office into a beating heart of a once busy, noisy control room, proclaiming the crucial role that the station played in Glasgow’s industrial past, since being built by Highlanders, from the clearances and Irish Navies, prior to its grand opening in 1879.

After an excellent, informative tour, several Rotarians had a delicious lunch in La Laterna, Hope Street.
