Harbour Ayrshire express our most sincere thanks to Ayr Rotary Club, for your most generous support through the treasure chest, it has helped to continue providing invaluable support to the most vulnerable people in the most deprived areas affected by drug and alcohol addiction and its inter-related conditions. We have applied your funding against the ongoing costs incurred in South Ayrshire where due to recent funding secured, we now have a dedicated Recovery practitioner tackling quite simply unprecedented demand. We have applied your funding against:

Hardship support for those who need it most at the point of referral and reintegration back into the community.

Case study: a young woman (29) who had been in an abusive relationship for around 3 years, managed to escape last summer but the previous partner managed to locate her, broke into the temporary accommodation, attacked and raped her. She then spiralled into heroin and alcohol addiction and is receiving intense support to get her ready for the trial date which is fast approaching.

Support has helped her with food, heating and bedding in her temporary accommodation.

Case study M 37 has experienced a lifetime of upheaval due to an unsettled upbringing that has seen her seek help many times and also relapse many times, opiates, heroin, and alcohol being her issues, and a life of petty crime to feed the addiction. Since referring to Harbour in April she has had her longest period clean and sober in 15 years, has built a strong connection with ladies at the group and her assigned practitioner. She has just come out of 14 weeks residential rehab and is doing really well.

Support included heating support, basic everyday essentials and a new jacket.

Refreshment support at weekly group activities

Teas. Coffee and light refreshments at the South Ayrshire weekly groups which now cover family group on Thursday nights, ladies’ group on Friday mornings, Ayr Men’s group on Thursday mornings and Girvan men’s group on Tuesday evenings.

The Groups provide a safe space each week to support recovery, fundamentally help create and build relationships that save lives and help build stronger, more resilient communities.
