Within Ayr Rotary we support a number of initiatives, working with schools, which have really shown how the lives of children from very disadvantaged backgrounds can be helped – eg the Newton School Hub support and the Skate Park “Shred Project”.

For the third year we are now running a Careers Fair in the Town Hall to which almost 300 P7 Pupils from some of the most disadvantaged areas in and around Ayr have the opportunity of meeting face to face with enthusiasts from almost 35 widely different Careers.

These people will share with them why they enjoy what they do, hoping to inspire the next generation of school pupils. Many of these representatives, who range from Architects and Doctors, to Airline pilots and Football Professionals, Nurses and Greenkeepers, Surveyors and Aircraft Maintenance professionals, and many more, have come to their own careers from difficult home circumstances, and come to encourage these youngsters to think about all the amazing opportunities which they have in front of them, not only in and around Ayr, but throughout Scotland and beyond.
