Ayr Walks for Water – 8 May 2022

Alex Thomson leads the team

On Sunday 8th May the charity walk in aid of Aquabox took place along the promenade on Ayr sea front. The weather could not have been better as the sun shone for the whole of the event.

A lot of hard work and effort by the organising committee took place before the event and we were well supported by South Ayrshire Council and Scottish Water on the day. Volunteers from Ayr Club and other clubs within our district helped to act as Marshalls along the promenade, at the starting point, and at the halfway post. We were also well assisted by the ladies of the  Inner Wheel Club of Ayr who also gave a substantial donation to Aquabox.

The number of registered participants was a bit disappointing but we were not disheartened by this and the event proved to be successful in many ways. At present we do not know the exact sum raised on the day but taking account of the known donations and sponsorship monies  a sum in excess of £2000 will be achieved.

Debriefing meetings will be held with SAC and Scottish Water in due course when discussion will take place regarding their future support for the event on annual basis.
