And yet another new member joins Ayr Rotary
Ron Ireland is a retired civil engineer who, although hailing originally from the east of the country, has spent most of his working life in the Glasgow area. He is an enthusiastic family man who, together with his wife, Mhairi, enjoys active participation (up to a point!) in the lives of their young grandchildren. He usually prefers to be outdoors and is a keen golfer, hill walker and cyclist. Over the years he has championed the widening of the National Cycle Network through involvement with Sustrans, the active travel charity, and has a more general interest in the promotion of responsible access rights and the extension of path routes to encourage safe, active travel (walking and cycling), particularly by children.
Ron and his wife recently moved to Ayr where they already had family connections and are enjoying making new friends in the area. Joining Rotary was a logical step in this process and Ron hopes that he will be able to give as much as he gets out of this by living up to the ideals and objectives of Rotary.
