Wellington School win Prestigious Rotary Award
The Rotary Cub of Ayr silver platter for public speaking in the senior category of its Youth Speaks competition, has been won by Wellington School. The event was held recently at Belmont Academy where Belmont Academy, Kyle Academy and Queen Margaret Academy and Wellington School vied for the prestigious award. In the judges’ opinion, their topic of The Power of Speech was delivered with skill and emphasis and without reference to any notes. Head of English at Wellington, Alison Shiels, guided the team of Chloe Dobbie, Celeste McGinley and Meredith Lynch to success. They will now progress to the next heat being held in Pollockshaws Halls, Glasgow in February 2016, competing against winning teams from other Rotary Districts around the country.
