Scottish Stammering Network

James visited the club on 10th November and gave a fascinating presentation on the charity he helped to found the Scottish Stammering Network.  James gave an interesting insight into his own issues with a stammer from his time at Millport Primary through Largs Academy to Strathclyde University from where he graduated.

A previous organisation which offered support folded and as a consequence James helped set up the Scottish Stammering Network in May 2012.

The charity is run by a committee of eight unpaid volunteers and helps arrange open days and support groups with group meetings in the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on the first Thursday of each month.

In recent times they have expanded and now also have a presence in Edinburgh.

The charity run an informative website and also have a presence on all normal social media outlets.

A broad range of questions followed the presentation with a vote of thanks proposed by Paul Williams.
