Newton Primary Christmas Show

Report by Neil Beattie

On Thursday morning, 19th December John, Marjorie, Milly and I were privileged to be invited, representing the Club, to the Newton Primary School Christmas Show in Newton Wallacetown Church Hall.  The hall was full of parents, grandparents, young siblings, us and even the occasional councillor.  There was a great buzz in the hall with no empty seats.

The show started with the Brass Band playing Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer very well.  Some of the 20+ players were quite small – the smallest euphonium player was hardly bigger than his instrument!

The main part of the show was looking at the meaning and values of Christmas.  A Robin and Christmas Star provided the continuity with the whole school being involved in the various scenes.  The actors, singers and dancers were well rehearsed and played their part perfectly to the enthusiastic applause of the audience.

An hour and a half passed very quickly thanks to the excellent performance of the pupils who were a credit to the hard work of their teachers and helpers.  We thoroughly enjoyed the show which was of a simply splendid quality.

Well done Newton!
