Message in a Bottle Presentation at OiR
On Tuesday 18th July, Dr Neil Beattie of the Rotary Club of Ayr, Coordinator of Message in a Bottle, South Ayrshire explained the background and workings of Message in a Bottle to 60 members of Ayr’s Opportunity in Retirement at their regular fortnightly meeting in Newton Church Hall. He showed the audience how to use this simple but valuable Emergency Information Scheme, informing our Emergency Services of vital information at times of crisis.
He explained that it was a cooperative project by the Rotary Clubs of Ayr, Alloway, Girvan, Prestwick and Troon and the Ayr & Prestwick Lions. About 15,000 bottles had now been distributed to vulnerable people throughout South Ayrshire by a wide variety of outlets.
The interest of the members was keen, and the OiR Office in Main Street, Ayr has now been added to the over 100 outlets supplying bottles and information about the scheme to any vulnerable person in South Ayrshire
