Lady Isle Trophy 9 Oct 2015

FullSizeRender(2)The Lady Isle competition 2015 was won by Alloway Rotary Club, and Hugh Pillson accepts the trophy from Prestwick Rotary president, Adnan Soojeri.

A fine evening celebration was held at St Nicholas Golf Club, attended by some 25 members from the thre clubs of Ayr, Prestwick and Alloway. The competition is played over three sports discplines viz. golf, bowling and curling.  Unfortunately golf had to be abandoned this year, owing to lack of golfers from Prestwick and Alloway.

John Thomson from Alloway explained the competition had developed from an idea of the late Don MacLaren from Ayr Rotary. As a St Nicks golfer, he oft admired the view from the clubhouse and decided to have a trophy commissioned depicting Lady Isle. The wooden base is the shape of Lady Isle with a miniature bowling wood, a curling stone and golf ball on top. It was crafted by Don’s son-inlaw, Oscar.lady_isle
