Good Golfing Gets Great

Rotary golfers

Four golfing greats…

On a bright, perfect Friday morning on 8th May, the first of several teams teed off for the annual Rotary Club of Ayr charity golf event held at Belleisle. A calm day, coupled with glimpses of the sun and a mild south westerly wind aided even the occasional players on the greens. Swinging, slicing, perfect putting, dramatic driving and the occasional mild swearing were all in evidence as the teams came back to the club ‘beer tent’ to await their positions in this keenly fought, but friendly match.

Stories and anecdotes about “missing a sitter” or a “drive as straight as a die” were overheard being exchanged. Even a “I was rubbish today” was voiced more than once.

And the winners were Doonvale Nursery, with Cobalt Water in close contention. David Ross of Caledonia Windows secured the enviable accolade of nearest the pin.

The day was rounded off with an excellent evening dinner attended by nearly 100 people, in the Roman Warrier suite at Ayr Racecourse, music provided by Escapade. In excess of £5000 was raised from the event with the main beneficiary being Clic Sargent, Prestwick.
