Ged O’Brien presents on 9 June
Our speaker on Tuesday 9 June 2020 at 18:00 is Ged O’Brien, Scotland’s leading sports historian. Based in his adopted home of Glasgow, Ged is a passionate advocate of Scotland’s role in sport. He claims that Scotland invented many of our modern sports.
Ged founded the Football Museum at Hampden Park and in 2010 wrote “Played in Glasgow” (ISBN: 978 0954744 557). It is an insight into Glasgow’s immense sporting heritage. He has also written the history of the sport of squash in Scotland.
Ged’s current passion and the subject of his next book is the “Scotch Professors” who spread the modern passing game of football throughout the world.
A true polymath and engaging speaker Ged, will be talking about the recent exciting discovery of the original Hampden Park and the campaign to preserve its legacy for the future.
