Foundation and Safeguarding

Our recent guest speaker was Fellow Rotarian John Waddell, District Foundation Officer and Olive Geddes, on Safeguarding and Foundation Issues.

John joined Rotary 24 years ago and has been very much involved with youth projects, held many offices, including District Secretary, District Governor, Chair and Area Foundation Coordinator covering Scotland and Ireland, and is currently our District’s Foundation Grants Officer.

John also oversees ‘Safeguarding Issues’ as the lead for Scottish Districts, and is one of the three mediation officers for our District 1320.

He is a former police officer with the City of Glasgow and then Strathclyde, eventually retiring as a Licensing Officer with Police Scotland.

John has also been awarded a Paul Harris Fellow Sapphire for his work with displaced Ukrainians.
