First ever “e-meeting” for Ayr Rotary

On 14 April 2020, The Rotary Club of Ayr held an “e-meeting”, an online get-together using Zoom software. It was set up by John Dunlop, with President Ieuan in the virtual chair, John giving a presentation and Alex Thomson the vote of thanks.

A staggering 28 members joined the meetings, with John outlining the plan for a walking event in spring 2021. Using a well-tested formula, the aim is to involve local clubs, organisations, the local council and other Rotary clubs, as well as individuals, taking part in a special sponsored walk to raise money, but particulalrly to raise the issue of “water poverty”. It is hoped to make this the largest event of this type ever held.

Still in the very early planning stages, this could be a major event for the town, and will raise the profile of Rotary.

With the success of this e-meeting concept, it is hoped to continue on a fortnightly basis until we are able to meet again, after the Corona lockdown is over.
