The rink from Ayr, skipped by Charlie Steele, with Neil Beattie, Alex Thomson and Ronnie Wilson were in splendid form to win the second stage round robin matches at Breahead on Sunday 15 February 2015.
Up against rinks from Hamilton, East Kilbride and Ardrossan & Saltcoats, Ayr got off to a fine start with a comfortable win against East Kilbride. A tougher win against Hamilton followed, meaning the last game against Ardrossan & Saltcoats was the decider. A very tight game was finally peeled at 3 each, with Ayr going through with the better shot difference overall.
The prize for the South-West region is the magnificent Loudoun Trophy. Ayr now play at Perth on 10 and 11 March 2015 against the four other Scottish region winners for the Scottish Championship and Ram’s Head Trophy. The winners then go to Grande Prairie in Canada for the Rotary World Curling Championships.
