CRAIG WILSON RECEIVES PAUL HARRIS AWARD
At the Henley on Thames Rotary Club Founders night on 22nd February, our previous secretary Craig Wilson was acknowledged as a recipient of the Paul Harris fellowship award. The formal presentation was made by Henley’s President Mark Harling.
During our anniversary dinner in November 2021 at the Brig o Doon, Craig was praised for his immense contribution to the growth and development of Ayr Rotary Club since joining in 2012. From 2013 to 2014 he held the post of Vocational Convener when he organised the Christmas Party Night, the Burns Supper and Play + Pie + Pint in the Gaiety.
From 2014 to 2017 he served as our Secretary when he created our rolling weekly screen advertisement, organised the Bake Off, introduced the Mastermind Quiz, was party to running our croquet days, served on the golf committee as well as Message in a Bottle and organised the highly successful 85th Anniversary dinner in Loch Green.
The Halloween pumpkin carving competition was his idea as was the thoroughly enjoyable Majestic wine tasting event held over many years. He greatly helped out at the Antiques Rotary Shows held in the Burns Museum over three years.
As President year 2016 – 2017, he introduced the very popular President’s pens, during which time he launched and ran the breakfast meetings in the Fox & Willow until December 2020; and he held the role of Assistant District Governor for three years until December 2020.
During a visit from Secretary Colin, who was visiting the Henley area on business, Craig received his Paul Harris award at his home, in February.
