Committees

The club structure has sub-committes to handle various projects. The projects vary from time to time, but many are long term.

Environmental Services – Alasdair Meldrum
A new committee set up in 2021 to deal with current day issues including Annual Beach Clean and Litter Picking

Community Services – Neil Beattie
Focusing on local issues, identifying people or groups in need of support, both fiancial and practical. Long term projects include Message in a Bottle and the Poppy Collection

Youth Services – Hugh Millar
Rotary GBI runs many youth-related projects. We organise annual Youth Speaks and Young Musican contests,  and are looking at several others

Vocational  – John Dunlop
This wide-ranging committee organises various forms of entertainment including quizes, Christmas Night, Burns Supper, as well as visits to places of interest e.g. Hampden Park, Glasgow Police Museum, SAR Prestwick Helicopter Base. Inter-club golf and curling are also played. Our major fund-rasier, The Annual Charity Golf Day, comes under this committee

International – Alex Thomson
Specifically working on projects abroad, this is where the bulk of our money has gone in recent years, including a massive £60000 project installing borehole and pumping statition in Malawi

Membership – Hazel McCully
Although Ayr Rotary has beenn more succesful than most clubs, we are now lookign at new iniatives to atract new members.

PR and Media – Douglas Haddow
Building on our successful website, we are now looking relying more on Facebook to drive traffic and rasie the profile of the club locally.
