Charity Golf Day – 6 May 2022

After missing out for two years, owing to the pandemic, we held our Annual Charity Golf Day at Belleisle on Friday 6 May 2022.

And what a day! Fortified by their bacon rolls and coffee, the teams made their way to their starting hole in pouring rain. It did ease off before the end of the round, but despite the weather, all players were in good spirits.

The winners were Bolton Wanderers, led by Harold Cooper, with Stephen Griffiths, Anthony Parker and David Smith. They are regular attenders at this event, and with a score of 82 Stableford points, winning on the better inward half from local Rotarian, Jim Nelson’s team of Paul Williams, Alan Richmond and Jim Patterson. Third place was Rescu Solutions, captained by Dougie Reid with Murray Steveson, Robert Clark and Alex Connel.

Thanks to so many people for making the day such a success, first of all the players, but also the hole sponsors and prize donors. A huge thank you to our main sponsor, M L Williams, Funeral Directors.

Our two nominated beneficiaries were RNLI (Lifeboats) and Wheels in Motion, a local charity providing hot meals and support for homeless people. Their founder and leader, Suzanne Algeo, gave a moving speech on how their organisation works, and the difference they can make to people’s lives.
