Charity Golf Day 2024

The winning team, Pieroni’s along with Rebekah fron Crosshouse Children’s Fund and Morgan from main sponsor, M L Williams

In beautiful warm sunshine, eighteen teams teed-off to compete in the Ayr Rotary Club Annual Charity Golf Day at Belleisle Park on Friday 3rd May 2024. This event is the main fund-raiser in the club’s calendar, and over £9000 was raised for local charities. The principal beneficiaries this year are the Crosshouse Children’s Fund and the Ayrshire Coastal Path

Crosshouse Children’s Fund is the charity for babies, children and young people in hospital in Ayrshire and Arran. From the tiniest babies in the neonatal unit at Ayrshire Maternity, to the children’s wards at Crosshouse and across the community – Crosshouse Children’s Fund is for Ayrshire’s children in hospital. Their fundraising manager, Rebekah McGinn outlined how important the money is to them.

The Ayrshire Coastal Path started in 2008 as a Rotary project. It developed and was so successful that it became too big for Ayr Rotary to run. In 2019 a separate Board was formed to run it and there are now over 50 volunteers who go out most weeks to do maintenance and improvement work. There is no financial help from government or local councils, and the 100-mile path requires machinery and materials to keep it up. The money will go toward the purchase of a 4 x 4 vehicle, essential for traveling to worksites.

The winning team was Pieroni’s who received a four-ball game at Prestwick Golf club along with a Glenmuir tee-shirt each, courtesy of Richard Gordon, head pro at Belleisle.

A host of expensive prizes were handed out both for the golf and the Prize Draw, the star prize being a four-ball at Royal Troon, especiallly noteworthy with The Open being played there in July this year.

So many thanks are required to the competitors, the sponsors and the prize donors. Not least, we wish to acknowledge the help from South Ayrshire Council, particularly the very helpful staff in the clubhouse, where a lovely lunch was served.

Our grateful thanks to all who supported the event including individuals who donated prizes. Some of our wonderful supporters are listed below.
