The Ram's Head Trophy

The Ram’s Head Trophy

The Scottish Rotary Curling Championship Finals, playing for the Ram’s Head Trophy, were held at Perth Ice Rink on 8 and 9 March 2016. The Ayr rink of Charlie Steele, Neil Beattie, Jim Nelson and Ronnie Wilson had qualified as winners of South-west Scotland region. The three other regional winners were Forfar, Perth Kinnoul and Dumfries Devorgilla.

Ayr beat Perth, but lost to the other two rinks. The standard was high, and all rinks were very evenly matched, with Ayr narrowly losing to Dumfries, when their skip played his final stone tap-back and lie, to perfection.

The overall winners were Dumfries who now qualify for the World Championships to be held at Hamilton in April 2018. The “Worlds” are held every two years, with the 2016 event from 2 – 8 April, in Grande Prairie, Canada. Scotland are represented by Forfar, Perth and East Kilbride.
